Overview: Located near Bergen on the west coast of Norway, Fana Golfklubb is a spectacular 18-hole woodland course. Carved through dense pine forests and massive granite outcroppings, the layout features dramatic elevation changes, tight, heavily restricted fairways, and small, well-defended green complexes. The course is a severe test of target golf, requiring players to execute precise shots over deep ravines and rocky chasms to find the secluded putting surfaces.
History: Opened in the early 2000s, the course was built to establish a premier competitive venue in the Hordaland region. The construction required extensive dynamite blasting to route the holes through the steep, rocky Norwegian terrain. The result is one of the most visually intimidating and spectacular layouts in western Norway.
Did You Know? Because the course is built in one of the wettest regions of Europe, it features a highly advanced, massive subsurface drainage system that ensures the fairways remain firm and playable, despite the constant heavy rainfall.
