Overview: Fågelbro’s 18-hole course is a woodland and parkland layout in the Stockholm archipelago, set within the larger estate landscape around Värmdö. Björn Eriksson’s original design uses mature trees, open parkland, water and changing ground to produce a varied round rather than a single narrow forest corridor. The course is not defined by extreme length, but wind and the sequence of green complexes can make club selection more demanding than the scorecard first suggests. The setting is quiet and spacious, with the resort facilities gathered around a historic property.
History: The 18-hole course was designed by Björn Eriksson and inaugurated in summer 1991. Between 2023 and 2025, Johan Benestam led an extensive renovation of greens, green surrounds and bunkers, with all holes reopening on 14 June 2025. The current course therefore combines an established 1991 routing with a very recent playing-surface renewal.
Did You Know? Fågelbro’s 18-hole course has hosted several major Swedish events, including European Seniors Tour rounds in 1997 and 1998 and the Swedish Men’s Championship in 2014. Those tournaments form part of the property’s sporting history alongside its resort setting.
