Overview: Highland Park’s Exmoor Country Club occupies a private 18-hole setting where glacial terrain and mature parkland frame a traditional golf course. Its present character reflects several eras of work, with Ross green and hazard ideas sitting within a layout that has also been restored and adjusted over time. Approach angles and putting-surface contours provide much of the strategic interest.
History: Exmoor was established in 1896 and its original course opened for play in 1897. Donald Ross redesigned the course in 1915, and Ron Prichard restored the layout played today in 2003. The club has also hosted Western Amateur, U.S. Women’s Amateur and senior championship events.
Did You Know? Exmoor helped found the Western Golf Association in 1899. That early institutional role helps explain why the club has remained connected to championship golf even as its course moved through different architectural phases.
