Overview: The Champions Course at Évian Resort Golf Club sits above Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps, where wooded parkland and steep changes in elevation frame the round. The current 18-hole layout is a strategic par 72 measuring 6,120 metres, with narrow approaches, contoured greens, water hazards, and mountain and lake views. It can be played as a demanding championship venue, yet its changing tee positions and varied slopes create different questions for players who are not competing in the major tournament held here.
History: The golf club began in 1904 with a nine-hole course built beside the newly opened Hôtel Royal. The original layout grew to its 18-hole form by 1922. Cabell B. Robinson completely renovated the course between 1988 and 1990, after working with Robert Trent Jones. A further redesign in 2013 created the modern Champions Course, which was officially given that name in 2020. The site has hosted the women’s Evian Masters and its successor, The Amundi Evian Championship, since 1994.
Did You Know? The official course guide identifies the 5th as the signature hole, a par three with a view toward Lake Geneva. The 18th is a par five that offers a genuine choice between an aggressive second shot and a safer three-shot strategy. Those two holes show the course’s range, moving from a precise downhill lake-facing test to a closing hole where risk and reward remain in the player’s hands.
