Overview: Essex County Club is a private Donald Ross course in Manchester-by-the-Sea with a rugged New England character. The 18-hole layout uses rolling ground, rock, wind and a memorable group of par 4s, with the final holes climbing and descending the small mountain on the property.
History: The club was founded in 1893 and began with a nine-hole course. The current site carries Donald Ross's 18-hole design from 1917, while later work by other architects has added to the course's long design history and Gil Hanse began a restoration project in 2023.
Did You Know? The fourth hole is named Edison, preserving the club's documented connection to Thomas Edison.
