Overview: Boksburg’s ERPM Golf Course combines an 18-hole parkland routing on Pretoria Road in Boksburg, forming part of the East Rand’s long-established golf network. The club describes a tree-lined routing with demanding par fours, water and bunkering, while the current site also highlights a full clubhouse, catering, lessons, practice facilities and visitor bookings. It is a traditional members’ club that remains accessible to golfers looking for a round close to Johannesburg’s eastern suburbs.
History: ERPM’s recorded golf history begins in 1903, when three holes were built around the first school in Boksburg. Eighteen holes were completed in 1906, and the club later undertook a major reconstruction in 1992–93, rebuilding greens, redesigning bunkers and replacing the water-reticulation system before reopening the course on 1 May 1993. The modern course therefore carries both a century-old club identity and a documented later renewal.
Did You Know? The small wood-and-iron building used as ERPM’s first clubhouse is still standing beside the first fairway, according to the club history. The club also counts professional John Bland among the notable players linked to its history and records his remarkable 59 at the course, a detail that gives the old Boksburg layout a memorable place in local golf lore.
