Overview: Gary Player’s 18-hole parkland routing at Erinvale sits in Somerset West, framed by the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountains, vineyards and False Bay views. Gary Player designed the course, which plays as two contrasting nines: a narrower, property-lined opening nine and a more open return toward the mountain foothills. The longest published tee measures 6,440 metres, approximately 7,037 yards.
History: Erinvale was officially opened on 27 May 1995, two years and six months after the estate development began. The course quickly became part of South Africa’s tournament landscape, with the club’s timeline recording the 1996 World Cup of Golf at Erinvale.
Did You Know? The 1996 World Cup at Erinvale was won by South Africa, represented by Ernie Els and Wayne Westner, according to the club’s own timeline.
