Overview: Encanterra Country Club is a private Tom Lehman design in San Tan Valley, southeast of the Phoenix metro area. The 18-hole course opened in January 2008 and was built as the centrepiece of the Trilogy at Encanterra community. Course records list par 72 and a back-tee distance of roughly 7,250 yards, with the layout using broad fairways, rolling ground and views toward the San Tan and Superstition Mountains. Its style is classically shaped rather than heavily target-driven, aiming to challenge strong players without making the course feel unfair to the wider club community.
History: Encanterra was developed by Shea Homes as a new Trilogy Country Club, with Tom Lehman Design selected for the golf course. Contemporary reporting described the project while it was still under development and recorded the January 2008 opening. The course has since remained integrated with the community’s wider resort-style amenities, including dining, fitness, tennis and social facilities. That history gives Encanterra a dual identity: it is a serious private course, but also part of a planned active-lifestyle destination rather than an isolated club property.
Did You Know? The course uses more than 145 acres of turf while the development’s golf material emphasises water impact and aquifer replenishment. That balance between substantial playing surfaces and desert-water responsibility is central to how Encanterra presents its Arizona identity.
