Overview: Empordà Forest is an 18-hole woodland course on the Costa Brava, surrounded by mature pines and sheltered from the region's wind. Robert von Hagge conceived narrower corridors, elevated greens, and carefully placed bunkers, making it the intimate, precision-oriented companion to Dunes.
History: The Forest project was conceived in 1988 and Empordà Golf opened around 1990 as von Hagge's first Spanish creation. The resort later added hotel and golf facilities, but Forest kept its original identity as a tree-lined technical layout near the rice fields of Pals.
Did You Know? The official Forest page singles out the par-5 13th as a strategic hole where tee placement controls the approach. The main test is choosing the right line through the pines, not simply adding distance.
