Overview: Emerald Coast Golf Links follows the southern shore of Miyakojima with wide fairways, natural beach edges and the open wind of the East China Sea. The official outline lists 18 holes, par 72 and 6,912 yards. It is a genuine seaside layout in character, with holes shaped by sand, coastal vegetation and the possibility of changing wind rather than by a dense inland forest.
History: Emerald Coast opened on April 8, 1988, and the operator credits Chohei Miyazawa with the design. The course was built to preserve the relationship between golf and the island’s beaches, a decision that still defines the routing. Its long-running identity comes from the way the fairways meet the coast, not from a later resort theme added around an otherwise ordinary inland course.
Did You Know? The 16th is the course’s celebrated sea-crossing hole. The official description places the tee and green across a coastal gap of about 110 yards, while the 18th finishes beside a natural beach bunker. Those two holes give the course a memorable beginning to its closing stretch, with the sea acting as a real strategic boundary.
