Overview: Located in Banner Elk, Elk River Club is a private mountain course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Set in a high-elevation valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the layout features rolling terrain, mountain streams, and mature forests. The routing combines strategic bunkering with undulating fairways that follow the natural topography of the river basin.
History: Opened in 1984, the course represents the first Jack Nicklaus Signature course built in North Carolina. Nicklaus routed the holes along the Elk River and through valley pastures, creating a layout that blends parkland features with mountain elevation changes. The club has since established itself as a premier private mountain residential community.
Did You Know? The property features a private, FAA-approved paved airstrip, allowing flight directly into the mountain valley near the clubhouse.
