Overview: Elea Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 course just outside Paphos, Cyprus. The current operator credits Sir Nick Faldo and presents a layout built around rolling fairways, indigenous Mediterranean vegetation, sculpted bunkers and exposed limestone. Earlier official course material gives a total of about 6,900 yards, while newer tournament material confirms the current par and 18-hole identity. Coastal breezes and the natural rock landscape are part of the design character, so the course asks for thoughtful positioning rather than relying only on length.
History: Elea officially opened on 18 October 2010, according to contemporary course reporting, and was conceived as a Faldo design that would fit its Paphos setting. The club has since become part of Cyprus’s international golf circuit, with the 2026 European Senior Men’s and Ladies’ Championships hosted at Elea. That progression from new Mediterranean course to established championship venue is central to its story, while the present operator continues to describe the same Faldo routing and par-71 layout.
Did You Know? Many holes are fringed by native garrigue, the low Mediterranean vegetation that gives Elea its distinctive texture. The contrast between that rough natural edge, mature carob and olive trees, and weathered limestone is deliberate rather than incidental. It lets the course feel rooted in southwestern Cyprus, with the landscape itself supplying much of the colour and definition around the fairways.
