Overview: El Terrón Golf Club sits in Mendiolaza, Córdoba, on rolling ground with broad views toward the Sierras de Córdoba. The 18-hole layout uses the varied topography as its main design material: fairways rise and fall through native vegetation, greens are framed by purposeful bunkering, and the changing lies make the course more than a sequence of long, open holes. The club’s own description emphasises the combination of landscape, views and strategic detail, while its hole guide shows how individual holes use trees, slopes, water and multi-level greens to create different problems across the round.
History: El Terrón grew from the Tagle family’s long connection with golf, developed with Hugo Meglioli as a project intended to bring an internationally distinctive course to Córdoba. Tom Weiskopf designed the layout, his first course in Latin America, and the club was inaugurated on 20 November 2019 inside the Estancia El Terrón development. The opening brought together local golf figures, the Argentine Golf Association and the Córdoba golf community, establishing a young course with a clear regional identity rather than a generic resort brief.
Did You Know? El Terrón’s official hole guide calls the fourth Tom Weiskopf’s favourite hole. The club’s own account of the course also highlights the twelfth, where the green is surrounded by water and the distant Sierras add another layer to an already memorable setting. Those details capture the design’s recurring contrast between apparently generous ground and exacting decisions near the green.
