Overview: The North Course covers 18 holes at par 72 in the protected marshlands of the Río Piedras and the Flecha de El Rompido near Cartaya, Huelva. Álvaro Arana's design moves through pine and orange groves before opening into marshland and estuary country, giving the course a changing coastal character without a housing development around the holes. The official course page publishes five tee distances, from 6,111 metres to 4,765 metres; the longest is approximately 6,699 yards and is consistent with the directory's rounded 6,680-yard value. Medium-sized greens, the river edge and carefully placed sand make the approach shot the round's main strategic conversation.
History: The North Course was inaugurated in June 2006 as part of Golf El Rompido's 36-hole project. The Spanish Golf Federation credits both the North and South layouts to Álvaro Arana and describes them as a nature-led concept in which the marshes remain the dominant feature. The North routing is separate from the flatter South Course, even though both share the same resort and clubhouse services. Its identity has grown from that unusual combination of a modern course, protected wetland and completely open surroundings.
Did You Know? The operator marks an internal out-of-bounds line beside the river on the left of the eighth hole, while balls in the river are treated under the local water rule. The published scorecard also places drinking-water points at the fifth and tenth holes. Those details show how closely the North Course's playing strategy and on-course operations are tied to the marsh landscape.
