Overview: Tucked into the mountain slopes near San Martín de los Andes, El Desafio Resort features a unique mountain routing that winds through rugged valleys and canyons. The layout is defined by dramatic elevation changes, spectacular lookouts, and natural rock formations. Accurate tee shots are essential to carry deep ravines, while small, firm greens require high, soft-landing approach shots.
History: Designed by Greg Norman, the initial nine holes opened in 2015 as the first phase of an intended 18-hole championship development. Norman utilized a minimal-intervention philosophy to preserve the natural features of the Patagonian landscape, routing the holes along ridges and through old-growth forests. Construction on the second nine holes remains a future expansion goal.
Did You Know? The course currently operates as a nine-hole loop, meaning players complete the routing twice to complete an 18-hole round. The third hole features a dramatic elevated tee shot over a canyon, dropping over one hundred feet to the fairway below.
