Overview: Designed by the renowned duo of Blake Stirling—a protégé of the legendary Pete Dye—and Marco Martín, El Cortijo Club de Campo is one of Spain’s longest and most formidable championship layouts. Located in Telde, Gran Canaria, the course is set within an ancient agricultural estate spanning six distinct valleys and featuring over 600 centenary palm trees. Since its inauguration in 1999, the 18-hole, par-72 course has earned international acclaim for its integration into the volcanic landscape, utilizing natural undulations and six strategically placed lakes to create a rigorous test of strategy. With six separate tees per hole, the course is engineered to accommodate all skill levels while remaining capable of challenging the world’s elite players.
Did You Know? The course firmly established its championship pedigree in 2002 when it hosted the Spanish Open, an event famously won by a young Sergio Garcia. Its commitment to environmental excellence was further cemented when it became the first course in the Canary Islands to receive the TÜV ISO 14001 certification, reflecting a sophisticated balance between high-end tournament golf and the preservation of the island’s unique subtropical ecosystem.
