Overview: Edinburgh USA is a public Robert Trent Jones Jr. course owned and operated by the City of Brooklyn Park. The 18-hole parkland layout uses open corridors, lakes, wooded edges and carefully shaped greens to create a substantial course that remains accessible from multiple tee positions. Its suburban setting is balanced by broad expanses of open space and a design that gives each hole a separate visual identity. The course combines the ambition of a championship venue with the civic role of a municipal facility.
History: Edinburgh USA opened in 1987 after Brooklyn Park commissioned Robert Trent Jones Jr. to design the course. It attracted national attention immediately, ranking second among Golf Digest's best new public courses in its opening year. The course later hosted seven LPGA Tour events and the 1992 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. A 2014–15 renovation by the Robert Trent Jones II design firm rebuilt bunkers, improved landing areas and added new greens and tees while retaining the original course's main strategic structure.
Did You Know? Edinburgh USA was one of the first high-end public golf projects in Minnesota to receive national attention. Its early recognition helped demonstrate that a municipal course could compete for the same public-golf audience as resort and privately operated layouts.
