Overview: Eastern Golf Club’s South Course is the club’s principal 18-hole routing, with the official numbering placing the South nine at holes 1–9 and the second half at holes 10–18. It sits within the club’s 27-hole Yering campus, where the Yarra Valley landscape supplies wooded margins, open approaches and enough movement in the ground to make placement important. The current course is a private championship facility, so the setting and routing matter more than a generic resort description.
History: The modern Eastern Golf Club course is at Yering rather than the former Doncaster address associated with older directory records. Greg Norman Golf Course Design is credited on the club’s current course guide. The South routing is the 1–18 loop within the present 27-hole layout, while the North and East nines overlap the later holes to create alternative combinations for club play and visitors staying at the property.
Did You Know? Eastern’s three nines are not simply named after compass points on a map. The official guide uses overlapping hole numbers: South covers 1–18, North covers 10–27 and East covers 19–27. That is why South can stand alone as a complete 18-hole routing while also sharing holes with the other combinations.
