Overview: Eastern Golf Club’s East Course is the nine-hole section that occupies holes 19–27 of the present 27-hole championship property at Yering. In the directory’s 18-hole routing, East is paired with the club’s South nine to create a full round. The setting is distinctly Yarra Valley: wooded corridors, broad open spaces and changing ground provide a more varied experience than a flat suburban course. The result is a composite round that uses the East character as its starting or finishing half, depending on the club’s routing.
History: Eastern Golf Club’s present home at Yering is a later chapter in a club history that began in Melbourne’s east. The current official course guide presents three nines,South, North and East, and credits Greg Norman Golf Course Design with the championship layout. The East nine is therefore best described as a current component of that 27-hole design, rather than as a separate 18-hole course with its own independent opening date.
Did You Know? The East Course name can be confusing because it is both a nine-hole section and part of an 18-hole directory combination. The club’s official numbering places East at holes 19–27, which lets golfers understand exactly what the composite East routing includes.
