Overview: Eagle Springs is a Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish design in Wolcott, Colorado, set in the Vail Valley with the Eagle River and surrounding hills providing a dramatic backdrop. Its 18 holes cover about 7,009 yards at par 71, with broad mountain views, elevation changes and a mix of open and wooded holes. Its character comes from using the valley rather than flattening it.
History: The course’s first round was played on July 3, 1995. Weiskopf and Morrish created the routing as a private mountain course, with the Eagle River valley and existing landforms doing much of the visual work. The club’s official material and established course references agree on the mid-1990s opening and the two-architect attribution.
Did You Know? The entrance to Eagle Springs includes a covered bridge, an unusual architectural prelude to a golf course. Once on the layout, the Eagle River valley and mountain terrain become the dominant natural features.
