Overview: Durbanville Golf Club is a busy northern Cape Town course with a varied parkland routing of tree-lined corridors, dams and elevated teeing ground. The course plays to par 72, with the yellow tees measuring about 5,957 metres. Water and mature vegetation shape the strategy, but the strongest identity comes from the way the holes climb and turn through the Durbanville landscape rather than following a single straight valley.
History: Ken Elkin designed the course in 1971, and Durbanville has grown into one of the Western Cape’s most active member clubs. The course has hosted professional and provincial golf, including the Durbanville Open, where Wayne Westner set a course record of 63 in 1990. Its scale and busy calendar make it an important local golf hub as well as a visitor option.
Did You Know? The 14th is known locally as the Pulpit. Its green sits high above the approach, so a shot that finishes short can roll a long way back down the embankment. The hole’s name describes the visual setting as much as the penalty for missing the target.
