Overview: The Nemours Course at DuPont Country Club is a historic private parkland routing in Wilmington, Delaware, shaped by Alfred H. Tull. Its traditional character comes from tree-lined corridors, undulating ground, mature vegetation and the broad fairway spaces associated with an older country-club course. At par 71 and about 6,230 yards in the directory record, Nemours is shorter than many modern championship layouts, but its interest lies in the variety of lies, angles and green approaches created by the established property. The course remains one of three distinct DuPont Country Club routings.
History: DuPont Country Club was founded in 1920, with a nine-hole course built by local professional Wilfrid Reid by late 1922. As golf expanded, a second course was constructed in 1937 and named Nemours after the neighboring A.I. duPont estate; the club's directory date of 1938 represents that course chapter. The club later moved its main clubhouse and a further Alfred Tull championship course to the Rockland Road property in 1949, while the Nemours name remained part of the club's multi-course history. The club was acquired by Rockland Sports in 2018.
Did You Know? Nemours was named for the neighboring A.I. duPont estate. DuPont Country Club's golf history also includes a nine-hole Wilfrid Reid course from the 1920s, a later Donald Ross course and the separate Alfred Tull work that shaped Nemours and the club's later championship property.
