Overview: Dunes Golf Club is a public 18-hole course in Empire, Michigan, near the Sleeping Bear Dunes landscape. Dean and Tonya Wall shaped the layout through wooded, sandy ground, using the terrain and native setting to define the holes.
History: The original nine was built in 1982 and entered play in spring 1983. Construction of the back nine began in fall 1989, and the full 18-hole layout opened in fall 1991, so the current course's history spans two construction phases.
Did You Know? The back nine was added several years after the original nine. That two-stage development explains why the course has a clear change of rhythm between its early and later holes.
