Overview: Dun Laoghaire Golf Club ~ Upper/Middle offers eighteen holes in routing using two of the three nines at the club’s Ballyman Glen course in Enniskerry. The setting is modern parkland with broad fairways, substantial bunker shaping and a quieter rural landscape than the club’s former site near Dublin’s south-side suburbs. The directory pairing is preserved because Upper/Middle is a different round from Middle/Lower or Lower/Upper. Current official pages establish the three-loop structure but do not provide one definitive pair-specific par or length.
History: The present course opened after the club relocated to Ballyman Glen in 2007, following decades of pressure on the old 18-hole site. Architectural coverage credits Martin Hawtree with the new 27-hole design. The move changed the scale of the club and allowed three loops to be built into a larger landscape. Dun Laoghaire later hosted the 2016 Curtis Cup, a major event that confirms the importance of the new venue in women’s amateur golf.
Did You Know? Upper, Middle and Lower are not just colour labels on a generic scorecard. The architectural commentary notes that the nines have different characteristics, so an Upper/Middle round has its own rhythm and visual sequence. Keeping the exact pair name protects that distinction for golfers comparing route options around Dublin and Wicklow.
