Overview: Located near Drammen, Norway, Drammen Golfklubb is a spectacular 18-hole parkland and woodland course designed by Jeremy Turner. Perched on a steep, south-facing hillside overlooking the Drammensfjord, the layout features dramatic elevation changes, tight, tree-lined fairways, and small green complexes protected by deep ravines. The course is a severe physical and strategic test, requiring precise target-golf shot-making to navigate the steep, side-hill lies and thick pine forests.
History: Founded in 1989 and expanded to its full 18-hole championship layout in 1998 under Turner's direction, the course was carved out of a challenging, rocky landscape. The construction required extensive dynamite blasting to create stable fairways on the steep slopes. The venue regularly hosts regional amateur championships.
Did You Know? Because the course is built on a steep, south-facing hillside, it enjoys a warm microclimate with maximum solar exposure. This allows the fairways to thaw and dry rapidly, making Drammen one of the very first courses in eastern Norway to open its summer greens each spring.
