Overview: Drakensberg Gardens Golf Club sits in the Southern Drakensberg beneath the escarpment, with Rhino Horn Peak and the surrounding mountains shaping the visual rhythm of the round. The 18-hole par-72 course measures about 5,830 metres from the club tees and is designed to be playable while still making good use of the valley’s slopes, water and changing outlooks. It is mountain golf with a resort rhythm rather than a severe alpine test.
History: The course is part of the long-running Drakensberg Gardens resort, where golf shares the landscape with walking, fishing and other outdoor activities. Its character has been preserved as a valley course that works with the natural contours instead of trying to flatten them. The front and back nines have different balances of par threes, fours and fives, helping the round build variety even though the total length is moderate.
Did You Know? The course lies beside Lake Kwanyoni, and the lake is one of the easiest ways to understand the setting. It is not an isolated water feature placed beside a fairway; it belongs to the wider mountain-and-valley landscape that gives the course its distinctive sense of place.
