Overview: Dismal River Club's Red Course is a private Tom Doak routing through the sandy landscape of Mullen, Nebraska. The course uses native grass, open dunes, and the Dismal River to create a links-style setting in which the ground and wind matter as much as the aerial view.
History: The Red Course opened in 2013, following the White Course's earlier development. Doak's routing finishes at the riverbank after a long drop through the property, giving the course a clear geographical climax.
Did You Know? The Red Course has an open-jaw routing that descends roughly 200 feet toward the Dismal River. The final relationship with the river is therefore built into the course's structure, not added as a decorative water feature.
