Overview: Devils Tower Golf Club is a private 18-hole course near Hulett, Wyoming, where the layout combines open prairie, ponderosa woodland, canyon edges and long views toward Devils Tower National Monument. The routing is best understood as a course of two contrasting nines. Earlier holes occupy open ground, while the later work moves onto more dynamic terrain beside a high canyon wall above the Belle Fourche River. Elevation changes and the changing vegetation give the round a stronger sense of movement than the wide Wyoming setting might suggest. The longest directory markers stretch to 7,111 yards, but the course's identity comes as much from its landform and views as from its length.
History: The first nine holes were built in the 1990s. In the mid-2000s, Colorado architect Dick Phelps and then-associate Kevin Atkinson remodeled the existing holes and added nine more on the southern portion of the property. That work created the current 18-hole course and connected the open prairie section with the wooded canyon-side terrain. The exact-course record describes the expansion and remodel around 2005, while the course directory carries 2006 for the present facility; that later year is retained in the structured data to reflect the completed 18-hole routing rather than the original nine.
Did You Know? Devils Tower National Monument can appear more than eight miles away from the course, yet it remains a recurring visual reference from the property. Several holes also look toward the Belle Fourche River canyon, creating a memorable contrast between the monument's isolated volcanic shape and the close-up texture of pine, prairie and river-cut rock.
