Overview: A bold and modern addition to the Dutch golf landscape, De Kroonprins Vianen was designed to bring the strategic spirit of links golf to the heart of the Utrecht polders. Opened in 2016 and designed by Michiel van der Vaart, the course features aggressive mounding, deep pot bunkers, and fast-rolling fairways that create a high-drama environment reminiscent of the Scottish coast. Its open layout is vulnerable to the wind, requiring players to think creatively and adapt their trajectories, offering a refined and atmospheric "inland links" experience just south of the city of Utrecht.
Did You Know? The name "De Kroonprins" (The Crown Prince) is a playful nod to the club's ambition to be a leading light in the next generation of Dutch golf. Despite its modern pedigree, the design utilizes traditional "revetted" bunkers—uncommon in the polders—which were imported as a stylistic choice to emphasize the club's commitment to the rugged aesthetic of classic links architecture.
