Overview: Davenport Country Club sits on bluff country in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, where Harry Colt and Charles Alison used elevation, two creeks and natural movement to create a varied parkland routing. Alison handled much of the initial layout, and several holes use the ground's slopes to frame demanding approaches.
History: The club was founded in 1924 and selected the Colt and Alison firm to design its original eighteen holes. Charles Alison was principal architect in the initial routing, and a 2014 renovation by Ron Forse and Jim Nagle restored several greens, tees and bunkers toward the original design.
Did You Know? Two creeks come into play on five holes. The 16th has twice received national recognition as an All-American golf hole, giving one feature an unusually strong place in the club's identity.
