Overview: Das Achental is a modern 18-hole resort course in Grassau, set between the Chiemgau foothills and the broader landscape of Lake Chiemsee. Thomas Himmel shaped the course around generous greens, modelled fairways, large lakes, natural meadows and old trees. The result is a resort layout with genuine strategic substance: water and bunkers influence the preferred lines, while the alpine panorama keeps changing as the round moves through the property.
History: The resort began as a riding and stud-farm property in the 1950s, later becoming a sports hotel. Between 2011 and 2013 it was renewed and expanded into a golf resort, and the 18-hole course opened in 2013. The course later joined The Leading Golf Clubs of Germany and celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2024, confirming its place among Germany’s established modern resort layouts.
Did You Know? The course contains 64 bunkers and nine water features, while the total green area is about 1.3 hectares. Those numbers explain why the course can feel generous from the tee but much more exacting around the greens.
