Overview: Located in Sijsele near the historic city of Bruges, Belgium, the Championship Course at Damme Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole parkland course designed by Joan Frederik Dudok van Heel. The layout plays across a flat, expansive polder landscape, featuring wide fairways, mature tree lines, and a vast network of interconnected lakes and water channels. The course demands strategic shot placement off the tee to avoid the numerous water hazards that guard the large, subtly contoured greens.
History: Founded in 1987 and opened for play in 1988, the course was built to establish a premier competitive venue in West Flanders. Dudok van Heel carefully integrated the routing into the existing agricultural waterways, creating a highly strategic test that frequently hosts national Belgian championships and elite amateur events.
Did You Know? The club is set just outside the historic medieval village of Damme, which served as the literary birthplace of the legendary trickster Till Eulenspiegel. The quiet, canal-lined landscape of the course reflects the peaceful, historic atmosphere of the surrounding Flemish countryside.
