Overview: Damai Laut Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole par-72 resort course at Lumut in Perak, overlooking the Straits of Melaka. Current course information lists 6,600 metres from the championship tees, approximately 7,218 yards, and credits Ronald Fream. The course occupies a tropical resort landscape of rainforest, wetlands and beachside ground, so the round moves between hillside tees, shaped fairways and greens with coastal views. It is part of the Damai Laut resort destination, with golf, accommodation and waterside recreation forming one travel proposition.
History: The layout opened in 1997 as part of the Damai Laut resort development. Ronald Fream's routing was built around the existing coastal and inland terrain, with Tifway 419 and Serangoon surfaces on the fairways and Tifdwarf greens according to current course information. The club's identity has remained connected to the resort and the Lumut coastline, and current tourism listings continue to describe the facility as a full 18-hole golf destination.
Did You Know? The fifteenth is the course's signature hole: a par four that plays over the crest of a hill to a palm-framed green, with the sea providing the backdrop. The layout's interest comes from the change of setting around that idea. Some holes use elevated ground and inland water, while others bring the beach, wetlands and tidal landscape closer to the line of play. That mix gives the course a recognizably coastal character without making every hole a direct seaside test.
