Overview: Damai Indah Golf’s Pantai Indah Kapuk course brings Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s “Spirit of the Sea” concept into the wetlands and coastal development of North Jakarta. The 18-hole, par-72 routing uses ponds, lakes, streams, white-sand bunkers and indigenous fieldstone walls to create strategic variety on relatively flat ground. Water is not a single signature hazard here; it recurs across the course, changing the safest line from hole to hole and making approach angles more important than the broad urban setting might suggest.
History: The PIK course was developed as part of the Pantai Indah Kapuk project and is recorded in corporate material with a 1993 operating marker. The course received the 1992 Gold Nugget Award for its site plan, reflecting the ambition to integrate golf and coastal development in one large landscape. Damai Indah Golf operates two separate 18-hole properties, and the PIK course should not be confused with the Jack Nicklaus-designed BSD course in Tangerang. Current official pages continue to publish the PIK scorecard and hole-by-hole strategy.
Did You Know? The official scorecard’s first hole is a par 5 with two possible strategic routes, including a longer water-influenced line for players seeking a shorter approach. The PIK course also received recognition in Indonesian golf surveys and tourism awards, while its current layout remains defined by the Java Sea coastline, constructed waterways and the “Spirit of the Sea” idea.
