Overview: Dalat Golf Club is woven into the centre of Da Lat, high in Vietnam’s Central Highlands beside Xuan Huong Lake. The current championship card measures 6,596 yards at par 72, with undulating ground, pine-covered hills and water appearing across the 18-hole routing. The setting gives the course a cooler, more spacious character than Vietnam’s coastal resorts, while the greens and approaches still demand careful distance control. It is an urban course in location, yet its views and natural contours make the round feel removed from the city around it.
History: The club’s history reaches back to 1922, when the original golf site was inaugurated with a much smaller routing. It was abandoned in 1945, revived in the postwar period and then reopened as an 18-hole course in 1994 after major design improvements. The official factsheet credits Colt and Alison with the early design and IMG with the 1994 redevelopment, so the present course is best understood as a historic site with a clearly documented modern chapter.
Did You Know? Dalat’s official factsheet says the course uses Bentgrass on its greens and identifies it as the only course in Vietnam designed with Bentgrass. The choice suits the highland climate and helps distinguish the course from the warmer coastal layouts found elsewhere in the country. On the card, the front nine is par 34 and the back nine par 38, an unusual split that gives the second half a different rhythm.
