Overview: Cowdenbeath Golf Club is a modern and beautifully maintained parkland course in the heart of Fife, built on the reclaimed land of the former Old Dora Coal Mine. Since expanding to 18 holes in 1996, the course has matured into a scenic layout characterized by its wide, undulating fairways and thousands of maturing trees that frame every hole. The design makes clever use of the industrial legacy of the site, transforming a mining landscape into a lush, tranquil environment that offers a fair and enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities.
Did You Know? The 18-hole course was officially inaugurated by Sir Michael Bonallack, one of the most legendary figures in British amateur golf and a former Secretary of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. The transformation of the site from a deep-shaft coal mine into a vibrant community golf course is widely cited as a triumph of environmental reclamation, providing a vital green space and a high-quality sporting venue for the historic mining town.
