Overview: Country Club of Little Rock occupies a hilltop in the historic Pulaski Heights neighborhood, with views toward the Arkansas River Valley and downtown skyline. The current profile lists an 18-hole, par-72 parkland course at 6,803 yards. Mature trees, rolling ground, tight corridors and changing elevation give the layout a classic Little Rock character. Herman Hackbarth is the key early architectural figure in the course's history, while later work has continued to refine the routing and its views without erasing the old club's identity.
History: The club and golf course were founded in 1902, making Country Club of Little Rock one of the oldest country clubs west of the Mississippi. Top100GolfCourses records an original six-hole layout, followed by Herman Hackbarth's appointment as professional and greenkeeper in 1907. Over his long association with the club he enlarged and remodeled the course. Edmund Ault and Tom Clark later changed holes and greens, and Keith Foster carried out a more recent restoration program intended to recover a classic feel while improving fairways, bunkers and playing lines.
Did You Know? Country Club of Little Rock's original golf course was a modest six-hole layout with sandy putting surfaces. The course grew over time as Hackbarth developed the property, so the modern 18-hole club is the result of more than a century of additions, alterations and restoration rather than a single-day build.
