Overview: The Country Club of Darien is a private Connecticut course that combines Alfred Tull’s original routing with extensive modernization by Michael and Chris Hurdzan. The current 18-hole course measures 6,912 yards, with expanded greens, new tees, fescue and drainage work adding variety to a suburban site. Its parkland character is understated, but the revised green complexes create a demanding championship test.
History: The course dates to 1957 and was laid out by Alfred H. Tull on the former Keewaydin farm. Michael Hurdzan was commissioned to modernize the course in 2007, and later Hurdzan work continued through the 2022 course design listing. The club has since hosted major Connecticut and metropolitan amateur events.
Did You Know? Country Club of Darien was built on Keewaydin, a farm owned by the Auchincloss family. The course’s modern championship identity therefore sits on top of a much older agricultural landscape.
