Overview: Cougar Point is a public Gary Player course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, where lakes, marsh, river views, and broad landing areas shape a par-72 Lowcountry round. The 6,875-yard layout is designed to be playable from several tees, but approach shots into smaller greens and the coastal setting keep accuracy central.
History: Kiawah’s first golf facility was operating as Marsh Point in 1976, with Gary Player serving as design consultant. Player returned for a complete renovation in 1996, and the course reopened as Cougar Point in 1997. A later renovation led by Gary Player Design reopened the course again in October 2017.
Did You Know? Kiawah’s first golf facility was operating as Marsh Point in 1976. Gary Player later led the major transformation that produced Cougar Point, and the course’s present character still comes from the meeting of the Kiawah River, salt marsh, and inland lake corridors.
