Overview: The Dunes Course at Costa Navarino, situated in the historic Messinia region of Greece, is a spectacular championship layout designed by former Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer. Bordering the sparkling turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, the course weaves through a scenic Mediterranean landscape of olive groves, orchards, and rolling sand dunes. The design blends seaside links characteristics with mature trees and large, undulating greens, offering a challenging yet highly resort-friendly test of golf with stunning sea views from almost every hole.
History: Opened in 2010, the Dunes Course holds the historic distinction of being the first signature-designed golf course in Greece. Langer, in collaboration with European Golf Design, crafted the course to establish Greece as a premier luxury golf destination, utilizing the natural sand dunes and incorporating local rivers and flora into the strategic layout. The resort has since expanded, but the Dunes remains the spiritual anchor of golf at Costa Navarino.
Did You Know? The spectacular par-3 2nd hole plays directly toward the sandy beaches of the Ionian Sea, with the green positioned just yards from the surf, making it one of the most frequently photographed holes in southern Europe. The course has a strong focus on environmental sustainability, utilizing a massive water reservoir designed to harvest rainwater for all irrigation needs.
