Overview: Coorg Golf Links is an 18-hole course at Bittangala near Virajpet in Karnataka's Kodagu district. The club's current home page lists a par of 70 and 5,890 yards, while its own course description places the routing on a plateau surrounded by Coorg's rolling hills. The layout combines a more undulating front nine with a flatter back nine containing water features and tree-lined fairways. That change of ground gives the round a distinct rhythm, with the Western Ghats forming the landscape beyond the playing corridors. The club also describes a clubhouse, guestrooms and an on-campus resort, making the course part of the wider Coorg stay-and-play setting.
History: Coorg Golf Links traces its origins to a group of golfers who imagined turning a neglected wetland near Virajpet into a grass-surfaced course. The club history records 1987 as the beginning of that vision and 1991 as the formal start of Coorg Golf Links, when its first founder members came together. Work on the first nine-hole course followed, and the history page says those holes became a reality in December 1993. The club has since developed into a private golf organisation with junior programmes, affiliations and a calendar of service and regional tournaments.
Did You Know? The course's own description divides the experience into two contrasting halves: the front nine runs along the side of a hillock, while the back nine crosses flatter land with water bodies. The 18th is described as a 447-yard par-four dogleg that crosses a bridge over water before reaching a sloping green. Those details explain why Coorg is more than a scenic backdrop: its topography and closing-hole strategy are central to the way the course plays.
