Overview: Coombe Hill is a private heathland course on the Surrey and London border, routed over rolling ground with heather, natural contours and mature vegetation. The layout plays to about 6,277 yards and par 71, with the land doing much of the work of separating one hole from the next.
History: A syndicate formed in January 1910 under J.F. Abercromby’s chairmanship and appointed him as course architect. The course opened on 30 May 1911, when Sir Arthur Paget and A.J. Balfour took part in the opening ceremony.
Did You Know? The club’s founding story links the course to a small group of local golfers who secured a large tract of ground and commissioned an architect before the modern suburban development around Kingston and Wimbledon reached the site.
