Overview: Conwy is an 18-hole links on the Morfa Conwy peninsula at the mouth of the River Conwy in North Wales. The course sits between the estuary and the coast, with views towards Conwy Mountain and the Great Orme. Wind, sandy ground and the changing horizons of the estuary give the layout a strong sense of place and a varied seaside test.
History: Golf was played on the Morfa by 1869, and a professionally designed course was laid out by Jack Morris in 1875. Conwy Golf Club was officially formed on 30 June 1890, and Morris extended the course to 18 holes in 1895. The club became a founding member of the Welsh Golfing Union in the same year and later hosted major events including the Curtis Cup in 2021.
Did You Know? In 1893, the artist Douglas Adams visited and produced three paintings of the Conwy links, including A Difficult Bunker, The Putting Green and The Drive. The club's long competition history now sits alongside that early visual record of the course.
