Overview: Concord Country Club is a traditional private parkland course whose present 18 holes combine the scale of a modern New Hampshire club with the history of an older nine-hole layout. Tree-lined fairways, gently changing ground and a classic green setting give the course a steady strategic rhythm. Ralph Barton is associated with the original design record, while the course’s later expansion means that its character is best understood as an evolving club landscape rather than a single-date construction. The result is a compact, historic setting with enough variety for a full round.
History: Concord Country Club was incorporated in 1929 as a private offshoot of the public Beaver Meadow Golf Course. The original nine holes were completed soon afterward, and the fieldstone clubhouse was built in 1930. A mid-1930s scorecard recorded the original layout at 3,070 yards and par 35. In 1973, the club added nine more holes, creating the 18-hole course played today. Irrigation was installed in the mid-1980s, and a short-game practice area was added in 2022–23. Those changes modernized the facility while retaining its older clubhouse and parkland identity.
Did You Know? Concord hosted the New Hampshire Golf Classic in the early 1980s, when PGA stars including Chi Chi Rodriguez, Peter Kostis and Bob Tway played the course in 1983 and 1984. The event belongs to the course’s later 18-hole chapter, while the surviving fieldstone clubhouse preserves the atmosphere of the original 1930 club. Together, the tournament history and the old building show how the course has grown without losing its local roots.
