Overview: Colonial Springs Golf Club’s Pines/Valley routing pairs two of the private East Farmingdale property’s three nines. The course plays to par 72, with a reviewed championship scorecard listing 6,433 yards. Pines brings sandy ground, pines and a more enclosed Long Island feel, while Valley opens the layout into broader corridors with different angles and landing areas. The result is a balanced combination that shows why Colonial Springs is more than a single fixed 18-hole course.
History: The 27-hole facility opened in 1995 under Arthur Hills’s original design. Robert Trent Jones Jr. then led a staged renovation beginning in 2004, with the final work on the Pines nine completed in 2007. The modern Pines/Valley routing therefore carries both the original Hills plan and the later Jones strategy, with the sandy terrain and natural oak and pine cover remaining central to the property’s identity.
Did You Know? The Valley nine is the broadest-feeling part of the Pines/Valley pairing, while Pines supplies the more enclosed finish to the property’s 18-hole experience. The contrast is created by two different nine-hole environments on the same sandy site.
