Overview: Colonial Springs Golf Club’s Lake/Pines routing combines two nines at the private East Farmingdale property. The par-72 combination measures 6,506 yards on the reviewed scorecard, moving through the sandy Long Island ground, mature oak and pine cover, and the shaped hazards that define the modern course. The Lakes nine brings water and open views into the strategy, while Pines supplies a more wooded, framed feel. Together they create a varied 18-hole round close to Bethpage and the wider Long Island golf corridor.
History: Colonial Springs opened in 1995 as a 27-hole facility designed by Arthur Hills. In 2004 the club began a major renovation with Robert Trent Jones Jr., and the work continued over three seasons, with the Pines nine completed in 2007. That sequence means the current Lake/Pines routing combines the original Hills concept with the later Jones refinement. The sandy site, broad landform and extensive tree cover were retained as the basis for a more strategic private course.
Did You Know? Colonial Springs has three nines, so the exact 18-hole experience changes with the selected pair. Lake/Pines is the combination that puts the water-oriented Lakes nine beside the wooded Pines nine in a single round.
