Overview: The Lakes is the principal 18-hole combination at Coffs Harbour Golf Club, using holes 1–9 and 10–18 from the club’s 27-hole property. The routing blends tree-lined fairways, water features and the subtropical vegetation of the Coffs Coast. Its appeal is practical as well as scenic: golfers can play a full round close to the city, while the club can rotate the nines to offer East Lakes and West Lakes combinations. The Lakes name points to the shaping influence of the ponds and wet ground that appear through the property, not to a separate resort destination.
History: The club’s first official opening took place in December 1926 on a small six-hole course at the showground. After the search for a permanent site, the club established the long-running Coffs Harbour course and later expanded the property into 27 holes. The Lakes routing is the clearest expression of the first two nines in the present guide, but it remains part of a flexible three-nine system rather than an isolated course.
Did You Know? Coffs Harbour’s current course guide describes the 27 holes as three different layouts: The Lakes, East Lakes and West Lakes. The Lakes combination is the 1–18 sequence, while the other two begin at hole 10 or 19, so a tee-time name can tell you which part of the property will start the round.
