Overview: Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-71 layout on the north shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Scott Miller's design uses the waterfront as a constant visual presence, with lake views, shaped fairways and water features contributing to the resort character. The course is best known for its 14th hole, but the other seventeen holes matter too: they build the setting gradually, asking players to manage changing angles and keep the lake from becoming a distraction.
History: The course dates to 1991, when the first ball was struck onto its movable floating green. Resort co-founders Duane Hagadone and Jerry Jaeger developed the idea after an image of a raft being towed across the lake suggested a green that could change position. Scott Miller's course turned that engineering idea into one element of a complete lakefront routing, giving the resort a golf identity that has remained closely tied to the water for more than three decades.
Did You Know? The floating green belongs to the par-3 14th and can be moved between set positions, changing the playing distance from day to day. Players reach it by boat after the tee shot. The feature is memorable because it is both a practical part of the hole and a piece of course engineering, not simply a fixed island surrounded by water.
