Overview: Inside Manila’s historic walled city, Club Intramuros Golf Course offers an 18-hole, par-66 round inside Manila’s historic walled city. The current official course page lists 4,151 yards, with Andy Dye credited for the modern design. Rather than occupying a distant resort landscape, the course threads through the grounds beside Intramuros landmarks, with the old walls and Fort Santiago forming an unusually dramatic backdrop. Its short par makes it accessible in length, but the lagoons, bunkers, narrow targets and tightly framed surroundings reward controlled placement and careful club selection.
History: Golf in this setting is traced to the early twentieth century, with sources dating the predecessor course and club to 1906 or 1907. The Philippine Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority records a transfer to the Philippine Tourism Authority in 1981, followed by an Andy Dye redesign in the mid-1990s. The course temporarily closed during the work and held its grand reopening in 1997. A later renovation in 2018 added to the modern playing experience, including the night-golf identity for which Intramuros is known.
Did You Know? Club Intramuros is one of the rare golf courses where a round can be played with Manila’s Spanish colonial fortifications visibly woven into the landscape. Contemporary descriptions highlight eight showcase par 3s and a short par 5, while the current course promotes night golf. The compact routing therefore combines a city-centre setting, a historic defensive landmark and a full 18-hole scorecard in a way few courses can match.
