Overview: Club Golf d'Aro, also known as Mas Nou, is an 18-hole mountain course above the Costa Brava near Santa Cristina d'Aro. Ramón Espinosa designed the routing to use the elevated terrain, wooded slopes and wide views toward the Mediterranean rather than hiding the course inside a resort landscape. The holes move through a varied topography where lies, elevation and changing sightlines affect almost every approach. Pine and cork oak frame parts of the course, while more open sections reveal the coastline and the surrounding hills. The result is a scenic but serious par-72 test in which distance is useful, yet controlling trajectory and accepting uneven ground are equally important.
History: The course was inaugurated in 1990 and was designed by Ramón Espinosa. It became one of the most visually distinctive courses in the Costa Brava because its elevated setting gave the architect a natural sequence of uphill, downhill and side-hill holes. The club also developed a separate nine-hole pitch-and-putt facility, but the ranked identity is the main 18-hole Mas Nou course. Its history is therefore tied to both the original mountain layout and the broader golf destination that grew around it.
Did You Know? The course sits high enough above the coast for the landscape to become part of the scorecard's perspective. A hole can look open from one tee and much tighter from the next fairway because the mountain contours change the sightline. That visual movement is one of Mas Nou's clearest signatures.
